Athertons and Silverwoods Establish House Auctions

A & S Auctions is a new partnership between Athertons Chartered Surveyors and Silverwoods, based at Clitheroe Auction Mart.

Owner of Athertons Chartered Surveyors in Whalley, John Atherton said “We are delighted to have formed this partnership with Silverwoods.

John explained, “The way the consumer buys houses is continually evolving. While we have seen recent trends in online sales, it is becoming more telling, that Auction sales are very much on the increase and offer a fantastic value for money”.

The A&S Auctions partnership will provide 2 very distinctive ways of purchasing a property.

The Modern Public Auction is a more flexible method of purchase whereby only a small reservation fee is payable by the purchaser on the fall of the hammer. The buyer will not be required to exchange contracts immediately. It allows up to 28 days to exchange contracts and a further 28 days thereafter to complete. This allows time to secure a mortgage, or make other financial arrangements.

John Atherton explained, “We believe this modern way of selling property at auction is an ideal process for residential and commercial property. It provides the momentum to achieve a sale, but allows the flexibility and time to arrange finances and complete the legal transaction.

The second option offered by A&S Auctions is the Traditional Public Auction. Through this method, the successful purchaser is required to exchange contacts immediately after the auction with a deposit of 10% payable on the day and a 28 day guaranteed completion thereafter. This option is usually best way forward for farm land or property with a value less than £50k or where a quick sale process is paramount.

We get a lot of enquires from sellers about auctioning properties, so when John Atherton spoke to us about the Partnership we soon realised it was a natural fit.

First Auction Date Announced

The first Auction will take place in The Ribblesdale Centre at Clitheroe Auction Mart, Clitheroe, BB7 1QD on November 3rd at 2pm.

There will be a range of properties varying from £100,000 to over £1Million including a farm in Bolton-by-Bowland to a 2 bed ground floor apartment in Whalley.
