Meet the team

Since launching Athertons back in 1994, Managing Director John Atherton has successfully grown the business through his professional, reliable and bespoke approach. John is a chartered surveyor and specialises in the sale and purchase of rural property and land, providing his unique level of knowledge and service to all our clientele. As members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), we work to strict professional regulations and guidelines. However, the selling and buying of property is a people-centred process and it is essential that we have the necessary interpersonal skills, along with sound knowledge of the industry and market.

Jim has been working within the property industry since 2013 with a background in residential surveying and valuation. In 2019 he joined his father John in the family firm at Athertons. He currently manages all residential sales and valuations from the Whalley office, alongside his day-to-day work as Director.

Helen has a vast knowledge of the local property market, having worked in it for 17 years. As Conveyancing Manager, she specialises in the conveyancing process going above and beyond to ensure a smooth process for both buyer and vendor from sale agreed through to completion.

Simon originally started with the company in 2005 assisting John within the land agency team. He know works closely with local developers, sourcing potential development sites as well as providing excellent customer service throughout the buying and selling process.

Tom has worked in the property industry for around 15 years and has been with Athertons since 2015. He manages a number of new development sites within the Blackburn and Ribble Valley area, as well as carrying out residential EPCs (Energy Performance Certificates) as a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor.

Mollie is the most recent addition to the Athertons team undertaking all things media related including photography, videography, social media accounts and general marketing. She has previuous experience in the property sector as well as media roles in the fashion industry and is responsible for our hosues looking as beautiful as they do.

Phil’s hands on approach to the day to day running of the business creates peace of mind for our landlord and tenants, ensuring that everyone feels valued, and looks to simplify the process for all involved. Personal service and high standards are key to the business growth. Phil aims to put this in place daily.

Emily joined us in August 2021 and is currently undergoing a Property Management Advanced Apprenticeship. Emily quickly settled in and is now responsible for the day to day tenant, landlord and maintenance support. If you’re in Barrowford, why not call in and see her at our office!

For over seven years, Mags has worked in our Whalley office on Saturdays and supported clients with their enquiries.

Robin has recently joined Athertons with a background in sales and client relations. His day to day role is accompanying potential buyers around a large range of properties providing an extremely high level of knowledge and customer service.
